Medabots: Stung by a Metabee

NAMES
MEDAROT MEDABOTS
Doctor Study Dr. Bokchoy
Blackmail Blackram
HellPhoenix Phoenix

CUTS
Kikuhime punching Iwanoi at the beggining of the Robottle.

Kikuhime kicking Iwanoi after the Robottle.

After finding the Reamedal, Ikki cries cuz he has a Medal but has no Medarot to use it.

"Super Turbo-kun"
"Ultra Hard Spray"
When the Screws arrive at the park, Iwanoi can't recognize the Rockers, so they do their hair and apply make-up to reveal their real identity.

Kikuhime asks the Rockers to become a member; Ikki and Arika yell at her for that.

Iwanoi cries upon Kikuhime's actions.

The blue-haired Rocker attacks Ikki.

The blond Rocker attacks Arika.

Iwanoi cries when the Rockers use the part they stole from him.

The Rockers whining at their leader while Metabee kicks some ass.

PICTURE EDIT
In Medabots, a sign is added with the Medabot name. Notice in Medarot they only mention "___type Medarot: (Name)" while in Medabots they also add a serial number.

Of course they had to rewrite "Medabots" on every "Medarot" sign. However...

The Medarotch still says "Medarot".

During the News-report, they change the Japanese text on the background for an image of the Rockers.

The "666" tattoo on the blond Rocker's head was erased.

The "Screws" signs among other things were changed for "Studen Council" signs.
However, the Japanese text is back later on.

Metabee aiming at Ikki with his shooter was edited.

Parts Acquired in this Episode
"WEA-02: Death Bomb.
Hability: Gunpowder.
Action: Sharpshoot. It has high attack and penetrating power.
Iwanoi broke into tears and exchanged it.
BOK-02: Point Radar.
Hability: Enemy tracking.
Action: Support.
Thinner armor without power. Not suitable for battle."
Also, the Battle Stats were very different.

OTHER NOTES
In Medabots it isn't until near the end we find out Henry was actually Hikaru. However, in Medarot, he's always Hikaru. Look at his uniform, it says "HIKARU" and that wasn't edited in Medabots.

In Medabots, Ikki names his Medabot as Metabee. However, in Medarot it's Hikaru who tells Ikki his name is Metabee. Also I think it's cute how in Medarot, the Bandit Retort reffers to himself as "Ai no Medaru Hantâ" (The Medal-Hunter of Love) <3

MEDAROT FEATURED
I wish these screens were also featured in Medarot. These are a Medabots exclusive :)
I think that's all by now. Stay tuned for my next entry. If I missed any edit, please let me know so I can update it giving you the credit ;)

Introduction

Hello everybody. My name is Nana.
As a child I used to watch this marvellous anime on TV called Medabots.
You remember it, right? I'm pretty sure most of you do :)
It used to be one my favest cartoos on that time. I remember I had completed my Medabots pog collection (although years later I lost'em).
Anyway, a couple years ago I found out in Japan it is actually called Medarot. (a pormanteau of "Medal" [メダル] and "Robot" [ロボット]) An animated adaption of a videogame franchise developed by Natsume in 1997. This anime premiered in Japan on July 2nd, 1999. 52 episodes, produced by Bee Train. Followed by a 39 episode long sequel titled Medarot Damashii (メダロット魂, "Medarot Spirits"). Both were licensed and dubbed by Nelvana in America, renaming it as Medabots, and premiered on September 1, 2001. Medabots (not Medarot) premiered in my country sometime around 2002 dubbed in Spanish.

At the time I found out about Medarot, I was pretty aware America has the habit for editing any anime they are planning to broadcast for children. I was wondering how was the original Japanese version. Lucky, somebody uploaded on YouTube the raw episodes of Medarot. So now I'm planning to use this blog to do a comparison between Medarot and Medabots.

First of all, I'll show like the general edits done in every episode.

OPENING
The opening for Medarot is titled "知恵と勇気だ! メダロット" (Chie to Yuuki da! Medarot | Wisdom and Courage! Medarot) sung by Junko Takeuchi.
The opening for Medarot Damashii is titled "SUPER GUYS!" sung by Yuusuke Nakamura
The opening for Medabots sung by Martin Kucaj and Mia Sheard

And just cuz I feel like it, this is the opening that played in LatinAmerica, sung by Paul Gillman and Luis Miguel Pérez
What can I say? Honestly I enjoy all of'em. Listening Medabots opening brings me back so much memories, it's like so overwhelming :3

ENDING
The ending for Medarot was titled "やっぱり君が好き!" (Yappari Kimi ga Suki! | Still I Love You!) sung by Eri Sendai.
The ending for Medarot Damashii was titled "年下のボク" (Toshi Shita no Boku | The Younger Me) sung by Yuriko Kaida
Both are really CUTE! Although... the first one is kinda cheesy for my taste XD
Meanwhile... Medabots ending was...
 ..*poker-face*

Introduction
At the beggining of each Medarot episode, there's a brief introduction in which the narrator explains what a Medarot is. This was dropped from Medabots.

I think that's all for now. Next entry I'll compare episode 1.
I'll try to update at least weekly.
ByeBye~ <3
